Dr Priscilla Ngotho is an early career researcher in malaria cell biology and immunology. She did a PhD at KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme Kilifi, Kenya in collaboration with the Wellcome Trust Sanger institute Cambridge, UK. Her research area aimed at characterizing expression profiles of P. falciparum variant surface antigen gene families, rif and stevor, during the blood stages of the parasite. Currently Priscilla is a Postdoctoral research assistant in Prof Matthias Marti’s lab at the Wellcome Centre for Integrative Parasitology, University of Glasgow. Priscilla is interested in malaria transmission blocking immunity, specifically the dynamics of gametocyte surface antigen expression and the antibody responses induced. Her long-term aspiration is to carry out collaborative research to develop tools and techniques towards design and advancement of novel multistage vaccines that can potentially block transmission as well as prevent disease.
