Prof Charles Shey Wiysonge [Director: Cochrane South Africa, South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC)]

Charles Shey Wiysonge is the Director of Cochrane South Africa, the South African Cochrane Centre, at the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC). He is also an Honorary Professor at the School of Public Health and Family Medicine at UCT and an Extraordinary Professor of Global Health at Stellenbosch University. His previous appointments include Deputy Director of the Centre for Evidence-based Health Care and Professor of Community Health at Stellenbosch University; Manager of the Vaccines for Africa Initiative at UCT; Senior Scientist at the SAMRC; Chief Research Officer at UNAIDS, Geneva; and Clinical Epidemiologist at the UCT Division of Cardiology. Professor Wiysonge is a member of numerous national and international advisory committees on vaccination, research, and evidence-based policy. His current research focuses on vaccine implementation issues in Africa.
