The IDM S.T.E.A.M. initiative is a working group structure within the IDM Transformation Committee (ITC). To ensure broad representation and efficiency, the ITC was strategically divided into five working groups—each focusing on a different aspect of transformation.
This structure allows for greater diversity and inclusive participation, bringing in individuals with varied experiences and perspectives. By doing so, the ITC ensures that the efforts toward transformation are collaborative, representative, and impactful.
The S.T.E.A.M initiative was designed to address the unique challenges of connecting and aligning a large community within a diverse research environment, such as the IDM. The ITC, as a governing body, ensures maximum synergy between these efforts by aligning them with the broader transformation goals of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) and the University of Cape Town.
