The IDM houses two accredited Biosafety Level III (BSLIII) laboratories, providing a state-of-the-art core facility for infectious disease research. This high-containment environment enables the safe handling, isolation, and study of Hazard Group 3 pathogens, supporting research in pathogen isolation, molecular characterization, drug efficacy testing, and host-pathogen interactions.

To maintain the highest Biosafety and Biosecurity standards, all users must complete a structured induction program with theoretical and practical training. Access is granted only after successful written and practical competency assessments, with certified users formally recognized for independent work. The facility also offers guidance on risk assessments and standard operating procedures, fostering scientific innovation and global collaborations in the fight against infectious diseases.
