Our Members

Full membership to the IDM is for researchers who are fully committed to conducting their research in the IDM, preferably accommodated in the IDM complex, for 5-year terms, which are renewable.

Associate membership is open to emerging researchers who are fully committed to conducting their research within the Institute. Appointments are for five-year terms, renewable twice, and are subject to specific eligibility criteria.

This membership category aims to support the career development of early- and mid-career researchers by fostering their association with the IDM and its scholarly community.

Affiliate membership is intended for UCT-based researchers for whom certain of their research aligns with the Institute’s focus and activities. This category offers supplementary membership for 5-year renewable terms.

Adjunct membership is for researchers employed by other institutions who collaborate with IDM Members to the extent that some of their own staff and/or postgraduate students may work within the IDM; for 5-year terms, which are renewable.
