Dr Barr is an infectious diseases clinician and lecturer at University of Liverpool / Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, and an honorary research associate of the Meintjes group at the University of Cape Town. He recently spent 2 years at the IDM as part of a Wellcome Trust PhD fellowship, and previously worked in ARV clinics in KZN. Main research areas of interest are severe HIV-associated tuberculosis, and sepsis more generally. Main research methodologies are pharmacodynamic modelling, biomarkers, predictive modelling, and clinical phenotyping.
