Dr. Ephifania Geza (Ephie) is a Bioinformatician at the University of Cape Town’s Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine (IDM), where she provides comprehensive bioinformatics support to researchers and clinicians.
Her expertise spans microbial genomics, metagenomics, transcriptomics, and biomedical data analysis, with a strong focus on data management, pipeline development, and collaborative interpretation. Passionate about tackling challenges in health, agriculture, and food systems, she works across disciplines to advance research and capacity building.
Ephie holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from UCT (2022) and holds MSc degrees in Mathematical Sciences and Operations Research, a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education, and a BSc Honours in Mathematics. Her previous roles include academic and administrative positions such as tutor, adjunct lecturer, teaching assistant, high school teacher, and credit input clerk.
