Dr Tiago Beites obtained his PhD degree in Biology from the University of Porto, Portugal in 2013. In 2015, he joined Sabine Ehrt’s laboratory at Weill Cornell Medicine (USA) as a postdoctoral associate to study unknown function proteins from Mycobacterium tuberculosis as potential drug targets. 

From 2020 until 2023, he held junior faculty positions in the same institution and started a research program that aimed at understanding essential metabolic adaptations of M. tuberculosis to the human host. In 2023, he joined i3S - University of Porto and currently leads a team working on bacterial pathogens target biology.
