Dr. Terry Kipkorir, PhD is a Wellcome Trust Early-Career Research Fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK. He obtained his Doctorate Degree in 2019 at UCT under the supervision of Professor Digby Warner and Professor Valerie Mizrahi. Subsequently, Terry received the Academy of Medical Sciences/Newton International Fellowship award and joined the lab of Professor Kristine Arnvig at University College London, UK, to begin his post-doctoral research. Since his PhD, Terry has been steadfastly interested in understanding vitamin B12 metabolism in mycobacterial organisms including Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium smegmatis.
Terry’s research group continues to investigate topics such the mechanistic and structural basis of gene expression regulation via B12 -sensing riboswitches in actively growing or dormant mycobacteria, mycobacterial B12 transport pathways, and their potential implications for virulence or drug therapy
