Robert Wilkinson elected to Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Sciences

We are delighted to announce that Robert Wilkinson, Honorary Professor in the Department of Medicine at UCT and director of CIDRI-Africa, IDM, Professor of Infectious Disease at Imperial College London and Group Leader at The Francis Crick Institute in London, has been elected to the Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Sciences in recognition of his excellence in medical science.

The Academy of Medical Sciences is an independent body representing UK medical science, which aims to advance biomedical and health research and its translation into benefits for society. Each year, 46 Fellows are elected for their contribution to biomedical and health research. Fellows of the Academy are elected for exceptional contributions to the medical sciences either in the form of original discovery or sustained contributions to scholarship. Robert is a world-leading clinical scientist who has devoted his career to tackling tuberculosis and HIV and has played a massive role in research capacity development at UCT.
