Dr Nailah Conrad, a lecturer and course convenor in the Health Innovation and Design Program, uses design thinking tools in health innovation , trained as a Coach and Lead with the Hasso Plattner School of Design Thinking at the University of Cape Town where she runs programs and workshops in various fields.  . Nailah is also a certified facilitator of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methods. Nailah believes that innovation brings value to people’s lives when it is based on needs that are well understood. South Africa is a complex and diverse nation with a massive burden of disease. This human-centred philosophy will lead to better health services and products that will alleviate the burden, relevant to an Institute focused on improving health in Africa.
