Speaker: Dr Dorrit Hockman

Dr Dorit Hockman is a Senior Lecturer in Cell Biology at UCT and a member of the UCT Neuroscience Institute. She studied at UCT, completed her PhD at the University of Cambridge, and did postdoctoral work at the University of Oxford. While her background is in neural crest evolution and development, her group currently focuses on using single cell gene expression technologies to study gene expression dynamics in the maturing human brain. Working with colleagues at the IDM and NI, she also investigates how host cell gene expression changes in response to central nervous system TB infection in both human tissue and mouse models.
