IDM Seminar Program

Wednesday, 26 August 2026 | 13:00 - 14:00
Neuroscience Institute Auditorium

Speaker: Dr Kyla Murphy

Dr Murphy works in clinical trials of new and repurposed antifungal drugs for the treatment of HIV-associated cryptococcal infection. Cryptococcal meningitis is the second leading cause of death in HIV, yet little is truly understood about the pathophysiology and immunophysiology of this condition. We hope to bridge the gap between our clinical experience and ongoing laboratory work at the Neuroscience Institute, to understand the spectrum of cryptococcosis from infection, through dissemination and ultimately invasion of the CNS. We hope that improved understanding of the host-pathogen relationship will lead to new treatment options, improve patient outcomes and reduce mortality.
