Prof Rolf Müller [Head and Director of the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland, Saarbrucken]

Prof Dirk Heinz [Scientific Director Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research]

Dr Timo Jaeger [Managing Director of the German Centre for Infection Research, Braunschweig]

Prof Rolf Müller has held a chair as professor of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at Saarland University. In 2009 Rolf Müller became the managing director of the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS), heads the Department of “Microbial Natural Products” (MINS) and co-founded the PharmBioTec GmbH in Saarbrücken. Within the German Centre for Infection Research (DZIF) Rolf Müller coordinates the thematic unit “Novel Antibiotics.”

Prof. Dirk Heinz studied chemistry and structural biology in Freiburg (Germany), Basel (Switzerland) and Eugene (U.S.A.). He holds a full professorship in structural biology at the University of Braunschweig (Germany). As researcher he has focussed on the structural elucidation of bacterial virulence factors in complex with their host targets. In 2011 he changed into scientific management and became the Scientific Director of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI).

Dr Timo Jaeger’s research centred on the redox metabolism of pathogens, function and catalytic mechanism of peroxiredoxins, target evaluation, characterization, and drug development against infectious diseases, especially tuberculosis and trypanosomiasis. In 2011 his focus moved to science management and he is currently Managing Director of the German Centre for Infection Research (DZIF) in Braunschweig.
