Transformation Working Group

The Transformation Committee is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment within the Institute. Guided by the IDM’s core values of Excellence, Collaboration, and Transformation, the committee works to ensure that all members of our community — including staff, researchers, and students — feel represented, respected, and a true sense of belonging. The committee is Chaired by, Fezile Khumalo or Co-Chaired by Charlotte Schutz

Our efforts focus on improving representation across gender, race, and other historically underrepresented groups, with the aim of creating sustainable and meaningful change. Through strategic initiatives, advocacy, and dialogue, the committee supports the development of inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive.

The Transformation Committee also leads community-building events such as Heritage Day and Africa Day, celebrating the rich cultural diversity within the IDM.
