Speaker: Emer Prof Leslie Petrik
Prof. Leslie Petrik has independently developed the Environmental and Nano Sciences (ENS) research group, in the Department of Chemistry at UWC since 2006. Prof Leslie Petrik has been principal investigator on many completed and ongoing local and international research agency projects with a recent emphasis on water quality, monitoring, treatment, and remediation. She has supervised 73 MSc and 45 PhD postgraduates to completion and has undertaken innovative research, with 12,247 citations, an h-index of 60 and i10 index of 194 with a high global ranking in the field of chemical and natural sciences: https://www.adscientificindex.com/scientist/leslie-petrik/101463
Speaker: Buyani Mazeka
Marine nematologist specialising in biodiversity patterns, taxonomy, contaminants, and molecular analyses that complement morphological identification. Currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Cape Town and affiliated with the Statistics in Ecology, the Environment and Conservation (SEEC).
