Reto Guler awarded BRICS multilateral joint S&T research collaboration

Dr. Reto Guler has recently been awarded a 3-year BRICS multilateral joint science and technology research collaboration grant, under the title “Epigenetics of macrophages during Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection”.

Dr. Guler is a Senior Researcher based in the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) Cape Town Component, positioned in the IDM, and of the Division of Immunology, UCT. His Co-PI is Professor Frank Brombacher, also of the ICGEB, with collaborators Dr. Yulia Medvedeva, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, and Dr. Sanjeev Khosla, Ministry of Science and Technology, India.

The aims of the BRICS Programme importantly also include the support of excellent basic research [in specified research fields] through a multinational approach; and the opportunity for emerging researchers in the BRICS countries to meet and interact. Joint proposals with three or more partners from the BRICS countries were considered for the funding.
